Fussen

Hi friends, family, coworkers and general internet creeps,

We are currently in Vienna hiding in our apartment. It is 6 degrees here and raining and we just finished marathon watching True Detective. Some days are just lazy days!

We wanted to share some pictures from our day in Fussen. We arrived in Fussen after a short drive from Heidelberg to visit the castles of  Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau. The castles were very impressive but Lance and I were not super fond of how touristy the area was. Lance counted 17 tour buses in one of the parking lots and this is the off season! Additionally, we ran across some drunk and loud Americans during the tour of Hohenschwangau and it made me want to turn into the Hulk. In true Canadian fashion, I just bottled up my frustration and stared at them, but not long or angry enough to be totally impolite. Hah!

Both castles could only be viewed on guided tour (again, not a favourite for us) but it makes sense to do it this way. It made for an efficient and relatively streamlined way to see the castles. So German!

A shot of Neuschwanstein from a nearby pathway.

This is the view looking south over the Alps and into Austria (which is only a couple of kilometers away)

A view of Hohenschwangau

A lovely shot of the Alps. I think we were just as impressed with the natural beauty as with the castles themselves.

SWAN!!!!!!!! Seriously, the swan was a theme throughout both castles. Maja you would have been in heaven!

And lastly, the above are shots from our little apartment. The views reminded us of Canmore and made us miss Mark and Doro.

Hope everyone is doing well at home. I think we may try and get motivated to go outside or maybe we will just lay here with some wine.

Bye for now,
Lamy
